The management team welcomes you to Emalahleni Skills Development College for the 2019 academic year. We as the SRC of college commit ourselves to serve and act as representatives of students as well as to participate in the governance of the College with the college council and to oversee that relevant and quality education takes place.

Staff Policy Preamble

Emalahleni Skills Development College provides for evaluating the performance of staff. KVC recognizes of it’s employees and understand that the quality of its service depends upon its employees. It is the KVC policy to maintain a regular and meaningful staff employee performance appraisal. The primary goal of appraisal is to encourage on-going objective communication between the employee and management an on the employee’s duty and performance, the secondary objective is the continued improvement of every employee’s job performance.

Emalahleni Skills Development College is committed to provide development and training opportunities for all our employees so that:

  • They can contribute as effectively as possible to the achievement of the Colleges overall objectives.
  • They have appropriate opportunities to develop personally and to further their careers.
  • They are supported by management who have the right kinds of skills, knowledge and understanding.

Appraisal Objectives

Among the objectives of the appraisal process is:

  • To provide clearly defined performance standards based upon the employee’s current job description to ensure that employees know what is expected of them.
  • To encourage supervisors and employees to have face to face discussions and provide employees feedback about their job performance.
  • To express appreciation for outstanding contributions and permanence.

Roles and responsibilities

After the performance appraisal interview has been conducted, the employee shall sign appraisal form acknowledge that he or she had the opportunity to comment and discuss the appraisal.
The employee has the option filling a written rebuttal to appraisal withing five working days of receiving it and has the opportunity to discuss the appraisal with the reviewing official.

The employee shall be provided a copy of the appraisal.
